Joel Levin
Principal consultant

Joel Levin is the principal consultant at Aha! Consulting and has 18 years experience working with or in a range of Sectors (Indigenous, Human Services, Planning, State Government, CALD, Environment, Commerce, Sports and Recreation, Education, Local Government, Utilities, Waste Management, Arts, Aged Care, Health, Disabilities and Justice).
His organisational, engagement and facilitation skills stem from a background in counselling, training, community work and senior management. Joel was the Senior Training Consultant for the Department of Community Development, focusing on the development of their services and funded Not-For-Profit services. This passion for organisational, governance and management development was sparked from his own experience as Executive Officer of a youth organisation in Perth. Between 2001 and 2004, Joel established and managed the Not-For-Profit Development Unit for the WA Council of Social Service. The achievements of the unit have been recognised through a Community Services Industry award for the Development of Community Services in 2002 and a Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership award in 2004
Joel has been a guest lecturer as part of the Masters Program in Organisational Psychology run by Curtin University and has provided numerous presentations at conferences around the state. Joel is also a presenter for the Australian Institute for Company Directors and the Institute of Public Administration Australia and the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). His education and training background include a Certificate of IAP2, accreditation as a trainer in Emotion and Outrage in Public Participation (IAP2)., postgraduate studies in counselling and coaching and both the Cert IV Workplace Training and Assessment and the Diploma Training and Assessment Systems. Joel is a member of the Psychotherapist and Counsellors Association of WA, the Australasian Facilitators Network and the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). In 2004, Joel became a fellow of Leadership WA, a program for emerging leaders in WA. Between 2005-2007, Joel was a Judge for the State Government's Community Industry Services Awards and was the founding coordinate for the IAP2 committee in Western Australia.
Kim Brooklyn

Kim has gained considerable experience during her 30 years working in government, Not For Profit and the private sector. With a career that started in nursing, Kim's career has evolved over the last 16 years to include a solid background in counselling, training and management. Throughout her career and especially over the past six years, Kim has actively engaged with individuals, families, communities, and organisations to determine the most meaningful, socially sustainable, and cost effective service/programs to best meet their identified needs.
Kim has specific experience in:
Training: Designing, developing and delivering training/education packages that are specific to a community/agency and or wider audience needs. Examples include supervisor training, facilitation and engagement practices, whole of community suicide prevention, working effectively and appropriately with people with mental health problems, counselling skills (micro and macro), working with Indigenous people (counselling and community development), governance.
Consulting: With an emphasis on developing ‘doable’ plans, Kim works with agencies and consumers/stakeholders to identify existing strengths, areas for improvement, and using this information works with services/service providers to determine specific and general strategies to assist clients to achieve sustainable operational and service excellence. Examples of this work in 2007 includes organisation reviews and strategic/succession planning for ATLAS, Manna Industries, Tammin Alcoa Landcare Education Centre (TALEC).
Program Development: Design of state and community based service delivery models for both Indigenous and non-indigenous services, modification of existing models to suit community and customer/client expectations; review and development of supervision models to assist rural and remote workers to achieve high quality service provision.
Research: Identification and utilisation of research methods to access both quantitative and qualitative information germane to a specific and/or general area of interest. Particular training and experience in the design, administration, scoring, and interpretation of questionnaires, and surveys. Experience in undertaking structured and semi structured interviews, focus groups and informal group facilitation; and also providing theoretical and practical explanations/frameworks for all of the above.
Direct Service Delivery: Psychological services to people from all walks of life (i.e. differing socio-economic status, cultural backgrounds, professional, para-professional and individuals and community).
Community Engagement: In the design and delivery of specific community services; in determining community concerns, expectations and requirements (and documenting same); and in accessing perceptions regarding specific issues.
